Mozambique Phone Numbers

As from the 1st August 2005 all telephone numbers in Mozambique have changed by gaining extra digits as location identifiers to bring all numbers up to 8 digits.

Location (Provinces) Identifiers:

Maputo 21
Gaza (Xai-Xai) 281

       Chokwé

282
Inhambane 293
Sofala 23
Manica 251
Tete 252
Zambézia 24
Nampula 26
Niassa 271
Cabo Delgado 272

These digits are then followed by the old numbers to bring total to 8 digits. Within Mozambique the initial 0 preceding the local number is no longer to be used but all 8 digits must be used.

Call to Mozambique from outside the country need the country code (258) followed by all eight digits of the new numbers.

Mobile phones numbers remain the same except for the initial zero which is now dropped.

Pemba Beach Resort Hotel Increases Number Of Rooms

The strong demand for luxury accommodation in Northern Mozambique has resulted in a further 40 deluxe rooms and suites being added to the Pemba Beach Resort Hotel, situated in Pemba, the capital city of Cabo Delgado Province in Northern Mozambique.

The expansion will increase the number of rooms at the hotel to over 100 rooms and suites and eight self-contained luxury villas. The new rooms will provide an unprecedented level of comfort and luxury for guests to enjoy, all having ocean views, spacious verandas or patios, spacious, lavishly appointed bedrooms and bathrooms, including separate bath and shower, air conditioning, mini bar, satellite TV to mention a few of many features.

Construction commences on 01 July 2005 and will be completed in August 2006. Impact on the hotel and its guests will be minimal. A special three-metre high reed enclosure has been erected around the entire site where the new rooms are being built. The enclosure blends in with surroundings and is pleasing to the eye, minimizing detraction from the magnificent vistas and concealing the construction area. Access to the hotel’s “Clube Naval” (Beach Club) has been provided for by walkways.

All rooms adjoining the site of the new development have been closed off.
Hotel guests will be accommodated in rooms that are removed from any noise or interference from building operations. All facilities at the hotel, such as restaurants, bars and swimming pools remain unaffected and will continue to operate as usual.

Exciting New Facilities At Indigo Bay Island Resort

The excellent range of facilities at Indigo Bay Island Resort are to be further enhanced with the addition of two floodlit tennis courts, a magnificent ocean view boma, new fishing and diving centers, another swimming pool, new restaurant and custom-designed mini golf facility.

Construction of the new facilities will commence in August 2005 and be completed by December 2006. With the site of the new facilities being removed from the existing resort, construction will not affect guests in any way, nor have any effect on existing operations and facilities. The new facility additions at Indigo Bay Island Resort are the result of an ongoing programme by Rani Resorts to upgrade and enhance its’ resorts, to cater for the requirements of guests, and to ensure its’ properties remain on the forefront of tourism product developments in Mozambique.

FOUR SEASONS HOTEL SOLD AT LAST

The unfinished Four Seasons Hotel overlooking the magnificent Costa do Sol Beach in the capital Maputo has been sold at last and should become one of the city’s best landmarks.

The massive building with about 20 floors was abandoned by its Portuguese owners at independence in 1975 and several government attempts to sell the infrastructure had been fruitless since then.

The building was acquired by a group led by the commercial bank BCI Fomento, which largely controlled by Portuguese interests.
